Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman from America. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage, was founded by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. One of the show's first "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in the entire 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank until now. She has been involved in 53 deals since February of 2020. The largest was a $350,000 investment that will provide 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 children born to a working class Irish-Catholic couple located in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence, her mother was an errand-taker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. became her father throughout Corcoran’s childhood. The family relied on food deliveries from the local grocer who would deliver free food. Corcoran recalls that her father was an alcohol-dependent drunkard who often treated her mother with condescension and disrespect, particularly after having consumed alcohol. Corcoran was a struggle in school, and eventually discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran started the high school system at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her departure from her Catholic elementary school. After failing several classes during her freshman year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she was a D-student when she graduated.
